JCBUS SXSW ATX 2012

we leave Friday to make our way down to Austin for SXSW 2012, 9 shows in 4 days + whatever shenanigans we can find.  let’s do this:

5pm: Brooklyn Vegan day party @ Hotel Vegas

Thu March 15
1:30pm: Paste Magazine day party @ The Stage on 6th
5:10pm: Google Music/YouTube “Live from the Lot” @ 811 Trinity

Fri March 16
4:30pm: Bloodshot Records day party @ Yard Dog Gallery

Sat March 17
1pm: Outlaw Roadshow @ Rusty’s
3pm: KDHX day party @ Jovita’s
4:30pm: Knuckle Rumbler day party @ Beauty Bar
1am: Bloodshot Records showcase @ Red Eyed Fly

For years people asked, “Are yo going to South By?” And for years the answer was, “Not this year.”  The truth is, we never went down to SXSW before now because we wanted to wait to do it in style.  Finally, 2012 is our year and JC Brooks & the Uptown Sound are ready to fully embrace the festivities.  With 9 shows and parties to play, we’ll be insanely busy all week and that’s just how we like it best.  It’s an honor to be a part of the festival at all.  But as always the case with us: we Want More than to just play a couple of shows and have a couple of beers.  We want  to represent Bloodshot Records, new sounds in Soul Music, Chicago, and all the fans who’ve believed in us up to this point as best we can.  SXSW is a party, a convention, and an inevitable stop for touring bands in a record push, but for us, it’s a chance to get our message out.  And to let folks know we are contenders.

Also, as a music junky, I for one, can’t wait to hear everyone else.  I’ve never had the dough or the time to take off a week and listen to bands and see shows in Austin but that’s what we hope to do any free moment we have.  Check back here for our report (or check out our updates on Gapers Block, or follow the action on Facebook and Twitter, and if you’re going, please stop in at one or all of these shows.
