Summertime, and the Touring is Sweaty

Since the last little run around the upper Midwest back in June, we’ve been home for a whopping 3 1/2 weeks, which is the longest we’ve slept in our own beds since February.  No complaining here though, since touring is way more exciting than this guy makes being in a band look.

Now we’re getting back in the van and not stopping much until September.  Strap in.

This includes our 300th show, 3rd trip to Canada, 3rd West Coast tour, and our 1st show in Rhode Island (only 21 more states to go!).  After that, we’ll be hunkering down to work on the new record.  We might even try some new songs out this summer.

After circling the Midwest and blowing the roof off Metro, we’re enjoying a few days at home in Chicago before we head back out.  This time we’re revisiting Nashville and Atlanta (opening for Bright Light Social Hour), then delving deep into the South East, with three shows in the Sunshine State, before a run up the East Coast (for those following along at home, we’ve now played shows in half of the 50 United States, and we’ll be crossing Florida and North Carolina off the list this time).  Details are below, including our first festivals of the season:

My Light Shines All Night

11 04 2012

from Subterranean on a Tuesday night to Lollapalooza in the park in only 5 years

We’ve only been home four days and the constant flow of crazy continues on unabated.  After being leaked by every media outlet in town, Lollapalooza finally announced their 2012 line-up, and we’re on it.  Along with a remarkably awesome roster of  headliners, like Black Sabbath, Jack White, At the Drive-In, plus the Shins, JJ Grey & Mofro, Alabama Shakes, etc.  This is gonna be fun.  Get your tickets here. (We’ll announce what day we’re playing in June).  Oh yeah!  And f’n TUNE YARDS!

That announcement just barely trumps the release of our new video for “Sister Ray Charles”.  Thanks to Google Play for debuting that for us, they’ve been real good to us ever since that tequila bender in Austin.  More on that soon.
