On the Town in Santiago

7 10 2010

The Want Moor What tour of Spain involved a lot of driving, and not a lot of sleeping, so when we weren’t getting down to business at the shows, it was nice to have a little bit of time to sightsee. The morning after we dropped the bomb on Santiago de Compostela, our road manager Alvaro was gracious enough to show us around the old town & cathedral area of the city. And wherever there’s public space, there’s buskers, and Mr. Greenweedz couldn’t resist getting in on the action:

speaking of buskers, then there was this guy. Absolutely smoking guitar player, kicking out some beautiful jazz standards (we’ve got video of “Fly Me to the Moon” somewhere), but the blackface stocking-mask and Mr. Potato Head lips was a tad… tasteless.

apart from that odd little oddity, it was a beautiful afternoon spent exploring the vast plazas and narrow winding streets surrounding the 1000 year old Cathedral (the reputed burial site of St. James)

and nice to see some familiar faces around town…
