JCBUS @ Metro, pt. 1

7 02 2011

After a nice little warm-up date opening for Kings Go Forth in Madison last weekend (which went over pretty well apparently), the Uptown Sound returned to Chicago to blow the doors off the joint at Metro, opening for LA hotshots Fitz and the Tantrums, along with our friends in the Right Now and the Soul Summit DJ’s. WXRT had been hyping Fitz pretty heavily, but we were still pleasantly surprised to hear that the show had sold out in advance that afternoon.

Since Billy was holding down the fort over at Second City, BT handled JC’s introduction

Playing Metro always brings out some wild energy, since it’s a great venue that many of us have been going to for years and seen so many amazing shows at (Orchestra Morphine, Femi Kuti, Watchers & the Eternals, Ted Leo & the Natural History, Dismemberment Plan & Death Cab For Cutie are just a few that come to mind).

It was a pretty intense show, but Fitz and the Tantrums were ready with their A game as well

And speaking of the Dismemberment Plan, we can finally announce that we’re going to be back at Metro in just two weeks, opening for one of their highly anticipated reunion shows, with the added bonus of Kid, You’ll Move Mountains, on Saturday February 19th.
