Back when BT had a day job and time to kill, he’d go on YouTube/Twitter jags…..
After reading the 50th issue of Wax Poetics, I was all hopped up on TACKAP so I started posting some of my fave clips and tagging it #PurpleWednesday, but no one ever pointed out that it was actually Tuesday. But hey, Skipper is just that FAR AHEAD of the rest of us.
When I Come Home (Live in Paris) – Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings w/ Prince
Weird Al’s Guide to the Grammys
Paperback Writer (Beatles Cover) – Andrew Kesler, One Man Band
Nothing to do with the Purple One, except that it’s one dude who loves the Beatles getting funky on all the instruments. Close enough.
Prince, Lenny Kravitz, and Larry Graham
While My Guitar Gently Weeps – Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne, Dhani Harrison, and Prince
Per Reggie Newton: the back story is that jann wenner (rolling stone mag publisher) was in the front row. early that week RS had published a 100 greatest guitarists of all time list. missing was one little purple guy. he was playing with a bit of a chip on his shoulder. he shreds, toss the axe, and then walks off stage.
ED NOTE: So, as it turns out, His Royal Purpleness is still litigious and anti-YouTube as ever, and a bunch of clips I’d collected 2 years ago are long gone (This post was originally twice as long), so we’ll just have to leave you with… the greatest clip ever posted to YouTube:
James Brown, Michael Jackson, Prince
